Massage Therapy
Registered massage therapy, a regulated health profession in Ontario, is generally taught in the method of Swedish massage. Swedish massage technique involves long, smooth strokes, kneading, and other movements intent on causing relaxation of the muscles. Registered Massage Therapy also involves a range of non-invasive manual techniques including soft tissue therapy, deep tissue massage, trigger point release and facial release. It is often an effective adjunct to other treatments, such as physiotherapy, chiropractic or acupuncture. Not only does Massage Therapy help release muscle tension and pain, it also helps to decrease inflammation by promoting circulation and lymphatic flow.
Deep Tissue Massage (RMT)
The method of this massage is a slow, deep stroke that may include hands, fingertips, ball joints, heels of hands, forearms, and elbows. The idea is to navigate and aim to break up muscles and connective tissues that have scar tissue and tension knots. This treatment is great for musculoskeletal problems related to many sports-related activities such as strains and sprains.
Hot Stone Massage (RMT)
An ancient tradition undergoing a modern revival, hot stone massage involves heated stones placed on your body by a registered massage therapist. The therapist uses the stones either as an extension of their hands or while massaging other parts of your body, and the heat is meant to provide more profound, longer-lasting relief.
Shiatsu (RMT)
Shiatsu, a Japanese healing technique, balances vital energy, relieves stress, and addresses physical and emotional ailments through gentle pressure on specific points, fostering relaxation and well-being.
Prenatal Massage (RMT)
Prenatal massage is a therapeutic practice uniquely tailored for pregnant individuals to address the specific physical challenges and discomforts that arise during pregnancy. This nurturing massage technique focuses on relieving common issues like lower back pain, muscle tension, and swelling in the legs and feet, all while prioritizing the safety and comfort of both the mother and her developing baby. Beyond physical relief, prenatal massage provides a soothing and calming experience, enhancing overall relaxation and promoting a sense of well-being during this transformative time.
Infant and Child Massage (RMT)
Infant massage is a traditional parenting practice observed worldwide, known for its numerous benefits. It offers relief from common discomforts like gas, colic, constipation, and teething. Additionally, it encourages relaxation, leading to more regular and regulated sleeping patterns. Furthermore, infant massage promotes stimulation and enhances the efficiency of all major body systems, ultimately contributing to an enriched quality of interaction your baby experiences.
Pediatric Tui-na Massage (R. Ac)
Pediatric Tui-na Massage is also called Chinese pediatric massage. It is a safe and gentle Chinese massage for kids that can help relieve various childhood ailments. Similar to acupuncture, it focuses on specific acupoints, but instead of needles, practitioners employ finger pressure to activate these points.
